Day Services

Hoylake Cottage offers two Day Services. Cottages Day Centre offers care for older people with a wide range of disabilities such as early onset dementia. Sandhills Specialist Dementia Day Care provides specialist care for older people with severe mental health problems including dementia.

Cottages Day Centre

Cottages Day Centre offers day care to older people with a wide range of disabilities including early onset dementia, Parkinson’s and stroke survivors. There are 25 places available per day, Monday to Friday. There is a manager and 2 trained Care Assistants helped by volunteers to support the clients who attend.

A range of activities is offered to clients during their visit including arts & crafts, games and quizzes as well as entertainers. There are hot drinks available throughout the day and a three course hot meal is also provided.

Clients wishing to use the Cottage’s Day Centre should have a social services assessment before taking up a place.

Sandhills Specialist Dementia Day Care

Sandhills offers specialist care for older people who are living at home and who have severe mental health problems, including dementia. Clients are referred to Sandhills through Wirral-based community mental health teams and consultants in old age psychiatry.

The unit provides person-centered care, with the aim of supporting families and helping them maintain a good quality of life together. There are 20 places daily from Monday to Thursday, with specialist nurses, planned therapeutic activities and a transport service. We are proud of our reputation for providing a friendly, caring, supportive and safe environment in which clients are encouraged to take part in activities according to their abilities.

Sandhills is a teaching unit for John Moores University and Chester University College Faculty of Health and Applied Social Scieneces, for students undertaking training in mental health.
